I have to hold with sunnnij, this recipe actually highlights the flavour of the corn. There seem to be three categories of this blazon of recipe: cakey, custardy, or soufflé-similar, and varying degress of sweetness. This results in more than of a custard, with the perfect balance of sugariness to my sense of taste. Of course, I realize that that is a strictly personal preference, and preferences vary. I used to apply a recipe that my Mom gave me which is quite similar, but had less corn, more milk, and twice the sugar, flour and eggs. Since I adopt canned corn, to preserve the exact proportion of corn equally specified in the recipe, I used kitchen scales to weigh out 16 oz of canned Niblets corn from two 11 oz cans, which left 3.5 oz of corn leftover from the second tin can... I await just using the two xi oz cans would work fine. The texture was more custard similar, which I really liked. To prevent excessive clumps that other reviewers mentioned, I put the flour and sugar into the mixing basin, then added the iii/4 cup of cold milk and whisked vigorously, so added the egg and whisked once more. (Never try to add flour to whatsoever liquid that is not really cold, as the flour will immediately create lumps that will be impossible to eliminate without a sieve). And so I nuked it for 20 seconds or then to warm it to about room temperature earlier adding the melted butter and corn. Broiled as specified and it came out perfect. This is *definitely* replacing the recipe my Mom gave me (lamentable, Mom!).

For a last minute dish, I used the crock pot method for a company pot luck. Now I'm asked to bring it every time. Since I double the receipe, I cook on the loftier setting. Succulent!

I quadrupled the recipe for my church building picnic, and people just ate it up! It is so easy to make, and you tin do information technology all in one bowl and one casserole dish! The color is wonderful when baked, every bit it turns a overnice orange on tiptop and is very bonny. It is important to defrost and drain the corn of any extra water before using it, as the final product is a wonderful consistency when done. Thank you lot for the recipe!

I probably didn't make it right the first fourth dimension. My offset time using a crock pot and it wasn't specified whether the crock pot should exist on high or low. I tried it low for an hour. It wasn't doing much so I switched it to high for the last 3 hours. Information technology tasted pretty good. I also tried cutting a corner. I threw the corn in frozen instead of thawing and drying it. The corn was sweet in a mushy mixture. Perhaps if I would have thawed and dried the corn it would take come out amend.

Just super. I love corn whatever erstwhile manner, but this gave the corn an extra flair for my big dinner political party. Cheers and so much, Karen! I sprinkled a scrap of Parmesan on top just for a garnish and when it melted in to the dish...wow!

I cooked this in the crock pot. Information technology was pretty skillful. The recipe itself is great, but I forgot to add the milk until about an hour after it was cooking, and so I added it late. It was however good though!!

I followed the recipe exactly and took it to a pot luck dinner at our church building; everyone loved information technology! I was pleased with the gustation and texture, and I didn't have whatever leftover to bring abode. I made it again a few days later on for my family unit and once again everyone enjoyed information technology. This recipe is a keeper!

How refreshing to observe a casserole that has the true gustation of the vegetable. So many baked vegetable dishes accept then many cheeses/crackers/breads/you can hardly discern what you're consuming. This is an excellent recipe for those who appreciate the clear, buttery taste of the vegetable. Slap-up to serve at barbeques. I use frozen shoepeg corn and stir the corn from the lesser two or three times the first 30 minutes of baking.

Why, yous inquire, did I but give it four stars...because I like to give five stars to truly amazing dishes, but don't become me wrong...you lot won't be sad to give this a attempt!

Very tasty. Easy side dish that can add together that something extra to make a calendar week nighttime dinner a home run. I might try a dash of hot sauce next time I go far, but information technology needs no changes at all. Loved it.

I made this for a dinner party as a final minute side dish and everyone loved it. One suggestion for a different flavour would be to add some diced crimson pepper and a small corporeality of diced jalepeno.

I fabricated this exactly by the recipe. My husband and I loved information technology, my 8 twelvemonth wasnt too certain about it. If information technology had of had cheese he would have loved information technology!

Flavorless and bland. My married man, who absolutely loves corn and would swallow it everyday if he could, didn't even finish what was on his plate. I'll endeavor to add more saccharide and salt to encounter if that helps.

yummy!!! Tried this tonight and the whole family loved it, fifty-fifty my 2 twelvemonth sometime. I added a little cooked onion and added cracker topping before I baked it and it turned out slap-up. I will make this again and once again.

I omitted the sugar and added 1 small can of diced green chiles. This was a wonderful way to come up with a tasty side dish using ingredients I had on hand. This is ane recipe I could meet myself making once more and again, in a number of different versions.

I was very pleased to accept a new recipe to try for Thanksgiving this twelvemonth.It was a big hit with my guests, however it was not what I expected. I was hoping for more of the eggy office,I recollect. I will make some adjustments before trying this over again.

I was disappointed with this dish, subsequently reading and so many adept reviews. It came out banal and lumpy. Served it at our Easter dinner and no one especially like information technology. I added a lilliputian more carbohydrate, common salt and pepper to try to relieve it, which helped a piddling.

This corn recipe is very good! I have young children and they all wanted it.... at present that was odd...ha. I don't know how healthy information technology is with everything you put into it merely it was prissy treat. I have made it 2x'due south this calendar week already... I am taking it to a BBQ to go a real review of it.

my beau's mother made this dish (or ane like information technology) for Christmas and i wasn't able to take my mind off of it since it was so skilful. One quick search on allrecipes.com and I plant it! it was so practiced and easy to brand. Peradventure I am a corn hog, but next time I will double the recipe equally it was simply enough for the ii of usa as a side dish.

I made this for Thanksgiving - I was looking for a corn side dish that wasn't completely loaded with sugar or cheese and this was perfect - and like shooting fish in a barrel! I used evaporated milk considering I drink 2% and was afraid that would create the problem with setting that others had. Information technology worked great!

I will give this a 5 b/c it was sooo piece of cake to fix. The only problem I had was the little chunks of flour that were scattered throughout the finished product. Next fourth dimension, I may sift the flour to brand sure there are no clumps. I also call back that an hour may be to long to melt. I will shorten the amount of time on my next batch. Overall, it was good!

Very good. I used frozen corn we bagged this summer. Kids and hubby LOVED it! Very like shooting fish in a barrel and unproblematic to put together!

This was a really good recipe...I took cracker crumbs and melted butter and mixed them together and put them on height...I also put cheese on pinnacle of that...it turned out SUPER DELICOUS!!!!

cleanyourplate! says, I buttered a pie plate and made this recipe exactly as written. I cooked information technology about 1 i/2 hours, but it even so tasted killer-diller. Crispy on the bottom & sides. Oddly, this recipe tastes similar creme brûlée.

I made this in my small wearisome cooker, and it was very tasty, but, the milk/egg mixture did not prepare and at that place were lilliputian white lumps theoughout. I do non recommend slow-cooking this i at all. oven is best.

I was expecting this recipe to be bland simply it was delicately sweetness and delicious. Even my husband, who likes his food spicy, thought this was first-class -- said information technology was probably the best corn he has had. I followed the directions exactly.

I made this in the crock pot. I idea to salvage time and room I would throw some chicken in on elevation of it. It all turned out very good, but the moisture from the chicken made the corn bake kind of soupy. So that's just what I did. Fabricated a thin white sauce, and turned information technology into a corn craven chowder!! 5-stars!!!

I made this every bit a side dish to smoked, pulled pork & it was excellent! I ran out of milk & used ane/two cp. heavy cream mixed with 1/four cp. water then whisked in the flour to forbid clumping. Afterward, I added all other ingredients. As for sweet, if the corn is really sweet, yous could probably forego the carbohydrate or at least reduce it. That said, the dish was a hitting & it was "easy peasy" to make. Definitely a keeper!

Tripling the recipe...I added 1/3 cup minced jalapenos, one/3 cup minced onion, 1/2 cup of sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded, sharp cheddar cheese into the mix then sprinkled more on peak. Information technology gave information technology such a beautiful dark golden brown chaff on top. It was and so good! Took to potluck. No leftovers!

This came out great and was easy. My just change to the original recipe is that I used a half and half mixture of milk and heavy cream.
