Greetings,

Does anyone here knows how to prevent and eliminate (once information technology happens) corrosion on the saddles/bridge?, is there some liquid, spray, chemical product, etc, for that purpose?

I'm starting to run into some tiny gray dots on the lower cord saddles (E & A) of my JPX6, I guess it's because I normally play very shut to the bridge so the palm of my right mitt is in contact with information technology about all the time. Some of my previous guitar'due south bridges, such every bit one Ibanez'southward Aught Resistance on a S Series, ended upward all rusty in red and greenish, once once more, generally in the lower string saddles.

Even though I make clean the bridge and saddles with a finish cloth every time I finish playing, trying to wipe out any residual sweat from my mitt and moisture in full general, those oxide dots started to appear a few months ago, then I'm starting to worry about information technology since I don't want to end up having another corroded span, specially on one of my two favorite guitars.

I'd appreciate whatever help or advice on this matter,

Regards,

Armando J.

WD 40 will assistance prevent further corrosion, yous can also dismantle the span and soak the parts in it and utilize 0000 steel wool or a fine wire brush is better, if it is just light specks attempt a tooth brush first. Well it seems that maybe yous accept a lot of acidity in your sweat since you say you wipe downwards your bridge expert with a dry cloth after playing, as that should really stop whatever rust from forming.

We played an outdoor gig this summer in the heart of July. The temp was in the high-90's with virtually fourscore% humidity (thank you Alabama). Needless to say, I was sweating buckets. Every inch of the guitar was dripping wet past the time it was over (ewww).

I didn't go a chance to wipe down the guitar good since we had to immediately interruption down our stuff and so that the side by side act could set up up. The next twenty-four hours I found a couple of small brown dots on ii or 3 of the saddles.

I try to make it a habit of keeping a small cloth on my amp so that I can give the span a quick wipe subsequently playing. During string changes I also spray a small amount of Remington gun oil on a rag and give the saddles a light coating.

How-do-you-do

You cannot avoid to accept some vesture on the saddles if your manus is in contact with the bridge. I have the aforementioned problem : the E and A saddles of my Morse exercise not have sharp corners anymore :

One day, I will have to buy new saddles ...

a drop of iii-in-1 Oil on the metal parts will keep them from getting worse. Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish will bring back the shine, do that first and so oil. Wipe off any excess oil of course.

I have that problem on my Albert Lee guitar. I was thinking of replacing the saddles with the ones I originally had on my Silhouette Special. Think they would fit with minimal aligning?

how long accept you had your JP and how much do you play it? Does it still play well or is it affecting the performance of the guitar... if information technology plays right and is merely a cosmetic event I wouldn't touch on information technology..
